Weekly Email

Hello Everyone!

We have made it to the week before vacation. Hope you all had some time to rest! I am looking forward to the football game tonight!

When I receive the superintendent’s email, I will update you all if there is anything you need to know. In addition, I will send the enrichment schedule as we get closer.

Reminders:

Here is the calendar.

Snow Storm:

There is an anticipated storm coming tomorrow night into Tuesday. The amount of snow is still changing so I will make sure to keep you updated when I hear about school delays or closings. (Sorry Raffy!)

Access Testing:

We have one student left to test. Thank you to all for your flexibility and help as we got our students tested.

Dismissal:

Still happening – Last week, we still had students in the hallways walking to the front door while I was in the middle of my announcements. Please do not allow students out to lockers until AFTER announcements.

COVID Tests:

Marie still has some COVID tests for staff. If you need any, please see Marie. We have had lots of staff and students out with sickness. Please take care of yourselves.

Voting – March 5th:

Reminder – the auditorium will be off limits on March 5th for voting. This could be a busy place as it is the presidential primary. Please stay out of the auditorium that day.

Grade Inputting:

REMINDER – You must be putting grades into Aspen every 2 weeks. If you have not completed that, please do that immediately. The district pulls data and we have lots of teachers that are not keeping up with the grading requirement. Please see Kathryn for questions.

PTO Meeting:

The next scheduled PTO meeting is Tuesday, March 12th from 7:30 – 8:30. It will be virtual only again. A link will be coming soon.

Black History Month:

February is black history month. This year the city of Salem is recognizing Black History Month by elevating the history and actions of Charlotte Forten, an African American Salem Normal School (SSU) graduate, Salem teacher and abolitionist activist.  There will be multiple events dedicated to Charlotte Forten and the school district gets to take part. Please start thinking about what we can do as a school to lift up Charlotte Forten.

I hope we are still working on Charlotte Forten work.

March 6th PD:

On March 6th, the district did not get enough staff to have district PD. We will be at SHS for the start of the day but should be back to Saltonstall by 10:00. Please plan to meet in the library at 10:00 for training with Carlos Hoyt. I know I said 10:30, but I misspoke. It will start right at 10:00.

We will have student and family presentations on March 6th and March 20th. On the 20th, you will need to offer a night appointment.

I hope you all have a fabulous week. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. If you don’t ask, you will not know.

Bethann
