Good morning, dear families,
First of all I want to remind you all that April is National Arab American Month and May is Jewish American Heritage Month and Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We will be learning and honoring the contribution of them during this coming weeks. You can see some information on our website.
I hope you enjoyed your week of vacation. We only have 8 weeks of school left; can you believe it?!!!!! In the blink of an eye, we will be on summer vacation. That is why it is still very important to keep your children in school. Students are still taking MCAS tests and in these next two months they will be participating in very important activities to close out the school year. We ask that you please try to make medical appointments outside of school hours and if you are going on vacation, please do so on days that we do not have school. And we would like to take this opportunity to celebrate all the students and classrooms that received Attendance Award Certificates. Thank you for working with us in this endeavor.
Regarding upcoming events: I would like to inform you that we have had to postpone the Domino Tournament that was scheduled for this Wednesday April 24 to give more families the opportunity to participate. The new date for the 1st Saltonstall School Domino Tournament will be May 29th at 5:30 pm. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Second: This Friday, April 26th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm we will be showing the movie Space Jam 2 here at the school for K through 4th grade students. Admission is $2.00, join us for pizza, snacks, and lots of fun. This event is a fundraiser to help the 8th grade students with their trip to NYC.
Next week, on Wednesday, May 1st, we will have the end of the year 4th-12th grade Concert for ALL CITY: Art in the Night. The Choir will perform at 6:00pm, the Band at 6:45pm and the Orchestra at 7:30pm. STUDENTS WHO WILL BE PERFORMING SHOULD ARRIVE AT LEAST 30 MINUTES EARLY. PLEASE CHECK WITH INSTRUMENT TEACHER. Please remember that if transportation assistance is needed to attend this Concert, this Friday is the deadline to sign up using the QR code or link on the attached flyer. We will not be able to accommodate any “same day” requests.
Also, in the month of MAY we will resume our LATINO PARENT GROUP MEETINGS. Our evening session will be the second Wednesday, May 8th at 6:00pm (after the ROOT Dinner which will be from 5:00 to 6:30pm) and the morning meeting will be the third Wednesday, May 15th at 9:00am. Both will be held here at the school. See the flyer for more information.
The next PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 14 virtually from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. Please check with the PTO for more information via email: saltonstallpto@gmail.com or through social media.
Then I remind you that Wednesday, May 22nd is a half day, and we will have an early dismissal as well as no school on May 27th due to Memorial Day. Please plan accordingly for pick up, drop off and childcare arrangements.
I also remind you that the LAST DAY OF CATAPULT TUTORIALS is May 31st for this school year.
Finally, I remind you that the invitation for our 1st Dominoes Tournament is for ALL SCHOOL and community. Registration is required and you must contact me to register your team (or you can register on your own). We will award medals to the finalists. Participation is free but feel free to bring food to share. We are also selling T-shirts and dominoes to raise funds. See the catalog in the main office or contact me to send it to you.
